These beautiful and loving children have been abused and abandoned by both their families and by society. Many of the children brought to Odres Nuevos have been found living in such heart-shattering situations as the pits of the city dump or in pigpens with the animals. Sometimes they may know that their parents are dead, other times they have just gone away and never came back.
Many of the children are not even from Mexico. Their families have come from Central and South American countries, through Chiapas in an attempt to get to the United States. On the way, the children are abandoned by their parents as they continue their journey to the U.S.
If you could hold one of these children, see their smile, hear their laughter and singing, your heart would be touched as ours have been. These children are created in the image of God Himself. He has chosen each one of them to live at Casa Hogar Alegre so that they can learn of His love for them.
Casa Hogar Alegre
Incorporated in 1993, Odres Nuevos A.C. is an organization founded to help abandoned and abused children. Odres Nuevos A.C. currently provides for more than 100 boys and girls at the Casa Hogar Alegre orphanage in Tuxtla Gutierrez, and has just started working on their first dormitory at “the farm” just outside of Las Margaritas.
Elizabeth Castelazo Noguera
While caring for her husband and family, Elizabeth was called by the needs of so many children in the area–children who were abused, abandoned, neglected. Children in need of love and guidance.
And so she began to take them in. Elizabeth did all she could to feed, clothe and provide education for the many children she took in, but there was very little to go around.
In July of 1993 Elizabeth, now known as “Mama Liz” officially became the guardian of what is now the Casa Hogar Alegre orphange. With little aide from their own government, Elizabeth welcomes any help that you can provide. Government officials have asked Elizabeth to expand her care to the multitudes of children still in need, but without your support, these children may never know the love and support that the Angel who is Elizabeth Castelazo Noguera.
