A Welcomed Visit!

A letter a video from some recent visitors to Casa Hogar Alegre:
We’re back from our trip to Casa Hogar orphange in Tuxtla Mexico!!!!
Casa Hogar Alegre means Happy Home and is home to over 100 children who have been abused and abandoned in Mexico. The orphanage was started 18 years ago by a woman who everyone calls Mama Liz. She runs the orphange with just her son and daughter and their spouses. They provide food, clothing, school and a Christian home for the kids without financial support from their government. The stories of some of the kids are absolutely heartbreaking, but their lives have been transformed at Casa Hogar. You can read about some of the stories at: http://www.mydy.com/occ/dec27.html
When we arrived we weren’t sure what to expect but we were overwhelmed when we first met the kids. They immediately ran up to us and gave us hugs and had huge smiles :) During the 9 days that we were there, we held a vacation Bible School, spent time playing with the kids and even repaired a roof on the school which had been leaking for 3 years!
The orphanage is in desperate need and many of you have asked how you can help. The most critical need right now is finances to keep day to day operations going (food, water, clothes, etc). Mama Liz has not been able to take in additional children because there isn’t enough provisions to take care of them. In addition to this, they are in great need of a washing machine and dryer. They are currently washing clothes for all of the orphans BY HAND!!!
